IP69K Protection

IP69K Protection

Definition of IP69K in EN 60529 and DIN 40 050 Part 9:

The number 6 indicates complete impermeability and therefore protection of the electrical components against the ingress of solid particles and dust.
"9K" means that the enclosure can withstand high pressure and steam cleaning without water ingress.

On request, Canvys can supply displays in compliance with the IP69K standard which can be fitted with a projected capacitive (PCAP) touch screen. The multi-touch monitors can be operated with two or more fingers, either with bare hands or with latex gloves. For the necessary robustness, the screens are made of single-pane or laminated safety glass up to 4 mm thick. They can be used in a temperature range of -20°C to +70°C.

Production equipment in the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries is subject to very strict hygiene and impermeability requirements. When products come into direct contact with production machinery, particularly strict standards apply in terms of cleaning and robustness. Cleaning must be carried out frequently and may involve steam jets and various chemicals. High temperature fluctuations should also be expected. All these factors require the monitors to have high ingress protection, which places high demands on the development process.

In collaboration with partner firms, Canvys development engineers have designed a bonding technology that allows the displays to be fitted in stainless steel or die-cast enclosures to meet the IP69K specification.
These special monitors can be used in applications such as bottling systems, pharmaceutical production, washing systems and the frozen food industry.
